The Prince of Cricket!

Its the Prince.

It's the Prince.

The Prince of Kolkata, the Best Captain of the Indian Cricket Team, the aggressive leader & the man who took the team in  hands at crucial time is ready to depart. Sourav Ganguly announced his retirement today (07th October 2008), & most of us are now looking fwd to India-Australia series for another reason, the man’s final shots.

Ganguly is the best left handed batsman India has ever seen & indisputably one of the best batsmen ever.He is one man who has seen a part of crowd worshipping him & the other part swearing at him.His offside strokes have been a treat to watch for the cricket lovers. His ability to hit sixes on the yorkers is loved .His bowling abilities also are quite good and handy at times. The crowd would now pour down to give a standing ovation to their hero.

Ganguly has proved himself as the most successful Captain of India. He was known for his aggressive leadership, uncompromising ways of working & his hard decisions.Obviously, these qualities made him a good captain. He too had bad patches, was dropped from the team, had problems with the coach who ruined the team. But Ganguly came back strong & proved his mental ability & physical fitness.

The pair of Ganguly & Tendulkar has been the most destructive opening pair ever, battling & tearing apart the best bowlers of the world into pieces with over 6000 runs put together by them.Individually Ganguly has scored 11363 runs in 311 ODI matches with an excellent average of 41.02.This shows the career graph & talent of the man.He started his test career with a century going on to score over 6000 runs at an average over 40.Though always condemned for his fielding,he still has 100 catches in his kitty.

Lets hope that the upcoming series get him few good knocks & he leaves his game with honor & dignity he deserves. This Prince of Cricket will be remembered ever for his talent, grit & ofcourse for his love of the game. The name will be written in Golden letters in the history of cricket.
